We are driven with a vision to put the traditional Indian Handloom into mainstream and make it relevant to contemporary lifestyle. Our endeavor is to provide the experience of the rich heritage of Indian Weaves, in the most personalised manner,through our designs.
We have a new design house that focuses on creating a line of clothing that is a mix of tradition and modernity. The designs of modern Charkha created inspirations pay attention to details and give beauty, boldness, and grace to the designs. Modern Charkhas, the source of the brand's inspiration, is a nod to India's artisan heritage.
MEET OUR FOUNDER
Born in Jabalpur , Surabhi is a lawyer by profession and has always been appreciated for her unique sense of style. An avid traveler, she enjoyed curating authentic Indian fabric from different parts of India.
The story behind the origin of these handlooms, some dating back to centuries, was the driving force behind her determination to start Modern Charkha.
The journey of these fabrics from looms to end consumers, passes through many stages and lives of many weavers are interwoven in these handlooms.
Modern Charkha is a conversation with Modern India about the interesting history and culture behind Indian Handloom, narrated in the language of Modern India.
